22 Jan Diesel Filling Station Becomes First Vegan Option Rated Restaurant
Diesel Filling Station in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood of Atlanta has become the first restaurant with a “Vegan Option” rating. This unique rating is offered to restaurants that don’t necessarily cater to vegan diners but have at least one entree that can be made vegan and are happy to accommodate vegans.
Located on North Highland Ave. the former gas station had been converted into a cool bar with both indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of TV’s inside make it ideal for watching sports and they have several theme nights during the week including “Nerd-Core” Trivia, Dirty South Trivia, and Texas Hold ’em and more. Diesel is also home to the best viewing parties in Atlanta for The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.
Their menu doesn’t list any vegan items specifically but the staff is happy to help point you in the right direction. The burgers can be made with a veggie patty and served without the bun. A Vegan Identifier staff favorite is the “Bailout Burger” without the feta which comes with pepperoncini, hummus, and cucumber. There are three fry options to go with your burger, regular fries and regular or sweet potato tots. The “Three Pepper Hummus” is also vegan as delivered off the menu. Don’t just eat though, there are enough high gravity, craft, and domestic beers and a large rotating draft selection to keep any beer lover happy plus a full service bar with a great staff.
